Wild Glow Candle Care

To get the most enjoyment from your candle we recommend the following guidelines:

  • Always place candles on a heat resistant surface, never leave a lit candle unattended, keep away from pets and children.

  • Trim the wick to 6mm before lighting each time to ensure your candle burns cleanly.

  • If the wick is left to long the pure cotton wick will mushroom and cause smoking.

  • Remember to trim the wick at least every 3 hours to prevent mushrooming or smoke.

  • If you get any black at the rim of your glass simply wipe it away with a damp cloth, this may be a sign that your wick is too long.

  • Before lighting your candle, always make sure you have sufficient time to leave the candle lit before having to extinguish it to allow the melt pool to reach the edges.

  • Burn candle for a minimum of 3/4 hours at a time to create a wax pool to the edge of the candle jar as this will ensure the candle burns evenly to bottom of jar.

  • If candle is blown out before it reaches side of candle jar it can cause tunnelling. If this happens, this can result in the candle forming a pattern of tunnelling, leaving unmelted wax around the edges which can affect the fragrance throw and drown the wick.

  • For safety reasons we recommend extinguishing the candle when it has at least 2mm of wax left in the jar. If left to burn with no wax the metal wick tab can overheat and cause the glass to crack.

  • Never put any wax down your drains as this can cause blockages, remaining wax can be wiped out and discarded in bin.

  • Candle jars can be washed out in warm soapy water.

FAQs

+ Why Soy Wax?

  • Soy wax is 100% Plant-based, non-toxic, all Natural and Biodegradable.
  • Soy wax melts at a lower temperature so the risk of scolding is reduced
  • Soy wax burns 25% - 50% longer the paraffin wax
  • Soy wax burns clean, produce 95% less soot than paraffin candles, and a lot less smoke.
  • Soy wax is derived from a renewable resource

+ What is Tunnelling?

Tunnelling will occur when you have not left the flame of your candle burning long enough to create a melt pool that reaches the edge of the jar (this can take 3-4 hours). If this occurs do not trim your wick but leave it longer to create a larger flame on your next burn to allow the wax pool to reach the edge of the jar.Alternatively, Soy wax is soft so when warm you can use a blunt object to push the wax edge into the already melted pool wax.

+ What is mushrooming?

Occasionally soy candles can produce an effect known as 'mushrooming' or excess carbon which causes a mushroom shape to form at the end of the candle wick after burning. This is the result of excess carbon build-up and is also characterised by a flame that burns very bright because it is consuming more wax than it can burn. This is easily fixed by trimming the ball on top of wick before each burn.
